Budapest (Day 9) 26 May 08 Szechenyi Baths

You can't leave Budapest without visiting their famous thermal baths. We are so glad that we went and tried it. It was really cool and we enjoyed it lots. What a great experience!

The water was very hot around 38 degrees. It was like having a hot bath. :) I will suggest going there early in the morning which we did. Because there will be less people and the water should be cleaner. hahaha We got there around 7am and left before 9am. :)

We also went to the swimming pool. The water was much cooler around 26 degrees. If we stayed in Budapest for another week, we would go there again for sure!

Info: Széchenyi Bath (XIV. Állatkerti út 11): The Széchenyi is one of the biggest bathing complexes anywhere in Europe, whose hot spring – both the city’s hottest and deepest – was discovered in 1879. The neo-baroque building containing the thermal baths dates from 1913 and the adjacent swimming pool opened in 1927. The water is so warm that the outdoor pools are popular with bathers even in the depths of winter!

hahaha....I managed to take this picture with all 3 traffic lights on at the same time. Amazing! isn't it? :P

Hubby wanted to do the same as I did but he only got the red and the yellow. haha Not bad!

Hungarian State Opera House 23 May 08 (day 6)

We went to the opera to see Don Carlos tonight. It was cool to see the beautiful opera house and the play, even though the show was a bit too long. It started from 6pm and finished at 10pm. It was the longest show I've ever seen.

Budapest (Day 5) Children's railway 22 May

The best way to get to the Children's Railway is taking the Cog Railway from the Városmajor. This special train is part of Budapest's public transportation, so you can take it with a regular ticket or with your three days tourist card. The last station of the Cog Railway is at the Szechenyi Hill where you can find the station of the Children's Railway. (info from here)

Me posing away with my plastic bag! ha!

Gonna start our picnic, we got salami, cheese, bread and crisps! haha
